Flamingo

Flamingo

Flamingo is one of Costa Rica’s most popular beaches with fine white sand. It has pristine clear blue waters, lagoons, vegetation and abundance of activities. Located along the northern Pacific coast in Costa Rica’s in the canton of Santa Cruz, province of Guanacaste. Just one hour driving from Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (LIR) in Liberia also known as Liberia International Airport.

Famous for its small one mile white-sand and pristine beach. Nicely developed, this beach town provides travelers with high-end amenities like hotels, resorts, vacation rental homes, shops, and restaurants, all of them with stunning ocean views, well protected and sheltered from excessive development by a large mangrove forest in the surrounding land.

The gorgeous beach remains the focus of this privileged area, however the New Marina incorporates a new and strategic tourist attraction of logistical and commercial interest as well. It’s a world class Marina in a breathtaking setting, Marina Flamingo offers 184 slips accommodating vessels up to 40 meter (125 feet). The marina offers every modern amenity, convenience, and comfort to yacht owners and operators whether as a home port or destination.

At Play Flamingo you find a rich mix of different cultures from around the worl, not necessarily overflowing with local culture, however, you can find a different feel in every nearby town in basically any direction

Just five minutes north is the town of Potrero, which has a mixed community of locals, expats, and tourists. Potrero is more spread out and has several different beaches to discover. We cover these beaches, as well as the town, in our Potrero post

While you must want visitors to just lay on the beach when visiting Playa Flamingo, there are some exciting activities to do as well. Unsurprisingly, with the Pacific Ocean glistening offshore, many of them take you into the water. The area is possibly best known for its scuba diving. There are several dive shops in town which provide service to the Catalina Islands. These are a series of islands which protrude from the Pacific and are home to a huge amount of marine life including the majestic giant pacific manta ray. Many scuba diving shops also offer diving to nearby destinations such as the Bat Islands as well as diving in the Gulf de Papagayo. Other activities may include:

  • Catamaran Cruise
  • Sportfishing and the Flamingo Marina
  • Jet Ski Rentals and Tours
